Alfred Pennyworth Prequel In The Works; Whether You Like It Or Not

‘Gotham’ showrunner Bruno Heller is launching a TV show based on the early life of Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

Are you interested in a prequel about young Alfred Pennyworth? No? Well too bad, it’s happening.

The show, from TV network Epix, has been given a 10-episode straight to series order. Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller is at the wheel. The show will not be a Gotham prequel, despite having the same showrunner, and will instead focus on Alfred working for Thomas Wayne in London.

Despite Heller running the series, and many of Gotham’s behind the scenes crew returning, Sean Pertwee will not star in the series, and the show will not be connected to the Gotham universe.

Heller’s crusade to demystify all elements of the Batman mythos will continue with the new series.

DC is also building content for their new streaming service, including Titans, Swamp Thing, and Harley Quinn, but this show will not be part of that venture. The show seems to exist in some sort of parallel universe, a universe in which anyone cares about this story.

Pennyworth will enter production shortly. Gotham is inexplicably gearing up for a fifth and final season
